Wuawsu Project Inc. has a model for success that is failure proof. Our design is executed the moment an individual is accepted into the program. Our staff is trained to began implementing the necessary stages according to the Action Plan designed for each consumer's needs.
WPI is aware of the vulnerability that surrounds victims of human trafficking both domestic and internationally. We advocate for consumers in areas of health screening for STDs and pregnancy. translation, housing search, family reunification, legal assistance, guardianship and financial management.
WUAWSU Project Inc.'s discharge process is detailed and thorough for the safety and well-being our consumers. We have implemented an aftercare protocol that consist of making all follow- up mental/medical appointments, escort to the new living environment, and follow up calls for up to 6 months, when applicable.
WUAWSU Project Inc.'s Drop In Center is a component to its original Transitional Living Program for Youth. Our Drop in Center provides immediate social services for all youth (both male and female) ages 21-26. Our center is the only one like it in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, NY. The drop in center is managed by a well trained program director, case managers, and a team of health and human service providers. WPI drop in center provides a warm, safe 12-hour secured environment.
Upon intake at our center, we provide immediate services , such as a hot meal, clothing, shower access, case management, referrals and guidance. Consumers are offered training on the importance of nutritious eating and how to prepare nutritious meals.
Daily skill building techniques consist of teaching consumer how to budget, shop, and purchase food toiletries and clothing for community living when needed.
Community living preparation workshops are encouraged to prepare consumer for potential social issues which may arise while living in a smaller community, such as a transitional living program. Workshops also address potential issues that consumer may face while dealing with life's demands.
Domestic Violence Counseling – Referrals are implemented as needed and/or court ordered.
Employment Services Coordination-WPI strives to create work opportunities for consumers by explore and maintaining strong relationships with community businesses, and by working with employers to train and support our consumers.
Substance Abuse Counseling- is outsourced, and referrals are made for treatment purposes.
We won't fret about our past, but we will stomp on it to get to our future!
